Who’d have thought Veruca Salt would bury the hatchet after the upheaval of Nina Gordon leaving the band to pursue a solo career in 1998? That’s the kind of “fuck you, I can do this on my own” betrayal that makes enemies for life.
All is forgiven though as the band are back together again for Ghost Notes, their first album (as the original quartet) in almost 20 years. The shocking thing? Nothing is different and nothing has changed. Like their Record Store Day 10″ “The Museum of Broken Relationships” that appeared last year, “Laughing In The Sugar Bowl” is pure Veruca Salt straight down the line, hook-laden and heaven sent. Ghost Notes is out July 10th. If it’s anything like this, it’ll be a belter.
