It’s hard to think of the alterna-rock landscape without The Dandy Warhols in it. They were the stoner Spacemen 3 of the 90′s/00′s — taking drugs to make music to take drugs to. Sure that gets old after a while and so did our favourite Portland four-some, but having returned with The Machine, their best album in a decade, all bets are back ON. Co-written with Bauhaus/Love and Rockets legend David J, “Autumn Carnival” is the Dandy’s trimming back the fancy fat as they float along on a subdued doing-our-thing psyche-rock vibe. Over lightning-like stabs of guitar, disembodied backing vocals, “Autumn Carnival” is the Dandy Warhols thumbing a ride back to their shoegaze roots. Currently playing shows in Australia, the band will be heading back out again on a European tour throughout November/December with the first stop being Heaven in London on November 22.
